Starving a cold

Why does anyone have to tell you to starve a cold? Doesn't that come naturally when you are sick? It sure does for me. As a result of a terrible cold my weight is dropping. I'm tracking my calories and doing my best to keep them up to 1200. Some days I'm not successful, one day was only 700. I do think this allowed for now but I'm worried about when this cold is over. What then? Back to 1500 calories? I have to think this one through. Its always a juggle and reshuffling in this diet game it seems. I will get there though. Just see if I don't!!

  1. When you figure out what to do over the calories with the cold PLEASE let us all know! I'm battling a humdinger of a cold right now and am at a total loss over what to do. My 2 1/2 year old gets a cold and I'm Genius Mommy To The Rescue! I get a cold myself? I'm a whiney blithering idiot :)

  3. Hmm...I always heard, "Starve a fever, feed a cold." In our house, a cold means lots of hot tea and vitamin C. One of my favorite foods for opening up my passages is salsa.

I'll keep praying for your recovery.

  4. I think when you are sick, you need to listen to your body and do what it tells you.......if this means only fluids.......then so be it ;) Hope you are better very soon!
