Sparkpeople. Cant do it!

I think Im sick of dieting. Seriously. Today I decided I would use sparkpeople again. I went there and logged everything in. It was nice to see that I was 30 pounds lighter than last time I had gone in to use the program. My BMI was 5% less. I was feeling happy until I looked at the menu.

I am sooooo sick of those menus; Mrs Dash, egg beaters, lo cal bread, 1 T of light cream cheese. Ugh! It all seems so dreary to me! I've done that off and on for 30 years. I don't want to even see those sort of boring diet foods.

I think that's why counting calories worked for me and is still working in maintaining a 30 pound loss. I do need to boost things up though. I have to get with the program...some program...something...anything...

But then there is my aversion to diet foods! I think I hate it so because it reminds me of all my failures over the years. I just don't want to go that route.

I want real food and they only way to do that is to vegan or to count calories.

Mrs. Dash just makes my skin crawl. Can we agree to never mention her name to me again?! I cant stand the lady!

Okay, it's later now and I'm in a better frame of mind. I've got my plan down. Im going to eat fruits and veggies and lean meats save for breakfast. You see I have had the same breakfast for 2 years now because it suits my schedule and satisfies my morning nutrient needs. At breakfast I have a slice of stoneground wheat bread and a slab of sharp cheddar cheese. I wash it down with a cup of black coffee. So breakfast stays! Other than that Im going to do the fruits and veggies and meats. So there you have it! Mrs Dash is still out in the cold and I'm happy about it!

I will report here daily for the first week to keep myself on task. Look for me here tomorrow!

  2. Did you know you can use the Sparkpeople calorie counter without using their menu? You just use the HIDE MEAL PLAN button and then the ADD FOOD button to find the food YOU choose. Most food is already in there to find calorie counts, and if you have one that isn't you can just manually put the info in yourself.

It is super easy and I have never, I mean NEVER, had an easier or quicker time losing weight as I did the five months I used it.

  3. Yes I used to use it like that. I did it for about 2 years. I have always hated their menu plans but now Im at the point in my life that I just cant take the time to look everything up for the calorie count or even to find time to type it all in. Its easier to just scribble in my diet journal on the kitchen counter!

  4. I hear ya, there are just some things I can't do. For me, it's counting stupid WW points and food journaling is never something that sticks either. I just focus on small portions and good choices.
