The calorie game

I do really well on eating plan until about 5 pm. At five an alarm goes off and I want to eat! So now I have to think of a way to deal with this. I've tried eating more for lunch or a heavier snack at three pm but it doesnt seem to work. Im experimenting with protein verses carbs and carbs verses protein. The answer alludes me as of now but I will find an answer. My success depends on it.

I have a bad habit that Im going to try to fix too. I count calories really good until I get to about 900 for the day. At that point I begin to take a bite here and a bite there, knowing that I only have a couple hundred more for my day. I count the calories in the bites as closely as I can. Then I hit about 1100 calories and I quit eating.

Why? Well you see, I quit eating to make room for any calculations that may have been off during the day. I also drink coffee with half n' half during the day and I found it was way too hard to count the half n half because most of my cups of coffee go unfinished while I pour a new hot cup from the pot. So by stopping early on my calorie count I can be sure I dont go over about 1400 calories for the day.

The little problem with this is that Im so paranoid I'll go over my limit that I never each 1400 calories in a day. I should reach 1400. It would be healthier. Everything I eat in the day I round the calories up. If I eat a tortilla for 110 calories I round it to a hundred twenty five for good measure.

This evening I was craving something sweet so I took 2 Tablespoons of icecream and 2 Tablespoons of organic optimum zen cereal, mixed them together and counted it 100 calories. The problem then was that I added another Tablespoon of ice cream and another Tablespoon of cereal cause it was so good. So I added in another hundred calories even though it was less than the original amount.

So this week my goal is going to be to count calories nore precisely after the 900 point. This had got to end!

  1. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I do exactly the same thing and yes, I eat really well all day but come dinner time, I just lose the momentum. Some days I am really under my calore intake and sometimes over. My weight loss is small but steady. My problem is that I am very impatient. I want the weight to come off NOW...TODAY...and be slim again (I had a baby 6 months ago at age 43 and it has been hard) but CONSISTENCY is the key I believe. Will get there (but may take longer than we like).
