The battle rages on

Okay Im finally headed in the right direction again! Mercy! Its downright scary how easy it is to blow a year of good eating. Okay so I have no idea what happened. I really think it had to be the Halloween candy. I had just lost a pound the one week. Then the next week I gained four pounds. But what I didn't record was that I gained another 3 the following week. I found this out Wednesday. Then I decided I needed to kick things up and get things going.

The only other time I gained like that this past year was in August when I went to the lake for a week and I gained 7 pounds. This time I gained 7 pounds in two weeks. I guess that's progress. It took two weeks instead of one to gain it this time. I wasn't going to weigh because it derails me. Well I did weigh this morning and am happy to report that the scale is headed back down. I've lost 2.5 of those 7 pounds since Wednesday.

So from a low of 206 I went all the way up to 213! Now I am 210.5. So yes I am heading back down. Since I figured out my monthly losses and recorded them there on my sidebar, its been amazing what a difference it has made. I dont freak out over the daily gains and losses anymore. My goal is to have the monthly loss go down every month. When you're 17 mere months from turning 50 what more could you ask of a diet than that it moves you down the scale. You accept any rate you can get. It's amazing how a loss of 2 or 3 pounds a month eventually will add up to my hundred pound loss Im seeking.

I think of it like this. I say to myself, "self you have to live this day fat or thin. You have to make food choices today. You may as well make them good choices because a year down the road you wont be able to go back and do this day over. Every day counts. And though there are no major losses the itty bitty ones add up at the end of the year. You have two choices: You can eat bad and end up with a gain at the end of the year or you can eat good things and end up with a loss. Its that simple.

A loss is a loss is a loss!

I LOVE this. I think I am going to print it and stick it on the fridge and pantry so everytime I go to make a good food choice I will see this wonderful thing. Thank you so much for this it is the absolute best. Do you mind if I make it my mantra?
I knew there was a reason I keep coming back to read your lovely blogs. (big huge smile)

  5. If it was really that simple, nobody would have a weight problem. But you're right, the little things add up, and every day counts. At this point, I exercise enough that I won't gain, regardless of how "badly" I eat. It's more about portion size for me, I eat everything, just some things, not very often, and not very much of it.

  6. It really is that simple but the weight problems are because nobody wants to do it. We love our fat and sugar.

Its my opinion its all about portion size regardless of who it is. I am not a believer of cutting out an entire food group unless you're allergic to it.

I know I also need to get more exercise. I need to vamp up my program!
